CARROLLTON (CBSNewsTexas.com) - Carrollton fire crews were forced into action to protect their own firehouse Sunday night.

According to Carrollton Fire Rescue, while crews from Firehouse 4 were on a medical call, a fire was reported next to their firehouse on East Rosemeade Parkway.

Several trucks and engines were called to the structure fire.

Responding crews found a fire coming from a transformer and a tree on the back side of the firehouse, according to a post on the department's Facebook page. The transformer fire caused some power outages in the area.

"After investigation, it was found the actual firehouse was not involved," a statement from Carrollton Fire Rescue reads.

The fire also caused an outdoor warning siren to activate for about 40 seconds before it was damaged by the fire and is now currently out of service. The Office of Emergency Management will work to get the siren back in service as soon as possible.

As of last update, crews were still working to stabilize the area. The power outage caused by the transformer fire has since been resolved, according to Oncor's website.
